March Musings

After Ciara and Dennis battered us all to bits, it was so cheering to see these brave little iris stylosa defiantly braving the tough conditions. Barbara S kindly gave me a small clump and it hasn’t been in very long so it was a lovely surprise to see these blooms. Hopefully there will be lots more next year.

On 4th March Sue Turner will talk about the Social history of the potato. This is very timely as potatoes for our annual Spud in a bucket competition will be on sale for £1 each. The idea is plant your spud in a builder’s bucket and they are all tipped out and the contents weighed at our Summer Social In August. Do have a go. Please check out the Competitions page to see what the classes are for this month. And don’t forget to book your place on our coach outing on 3rd June to West Dean gardens or the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum. (£10 non refundable deposit secures your place). The cost is £28 for members and £30 for non members. If we get a good response we may get a larger coach, in which case it will work out cheaper for everyone.
